MARGARET WILLIAMS ~ was born on the Caribbean island of Grenada. Migrating to England in her early childhood to join other members of the family, Margaret carried with her the impressions of her home landscape which now influence her glazing.
As marriage and three children gave an immediate focus to life, the local sewing industry provided a wage and links with home.
Recreational sewing became a functional hobby - making all her own clothing and tailoring for friends & family. An opportunity to pass on these skills came at Adult Education classes where she taught Pattern Cutting, Dressmaking & Tailoring for three years.
It was through another Adult Education class - this time as the student - that she first delved into the craft of pottery.
Under the tutelage of artist Roland Austin, Margaret immediately recognised a medium of greater expression...
